Nothing grabbed me. Nothing surprised or delighted me. This was a role reversal story. Llyr and his evil brother Ansgar rule two fairy kingdoms. Ansgar has been attempting to assassinate Llyr for 400 years. He killed Llyr's wives, children and others during that time. Llyr doesn't fight back because he's trying to play by the rules set by his father. Ansgar is not playing by the rules and nearly wins. Llyr should have fought fire with fire somehow. I felt he was too much of the helpless victim, not protecting himself or his people as he should have.

Diana is a human who shifts into werewolf form and has enough power to fight fairies, vampires, etc. Ansgar sends a vampire to kill Llyr. Ansgar also causes Llyr to lose his magic powers. Diana protects Llyr and fights the vampire for him. She plays the alpha female, which was an enjoyable part of the story.

CAUTION SPOILERS:
I found it unsettling that Ansgar could be so much more powerful than Llyr. They were brothers. He took away Llyr's powers and later Diana's. Llyr seemed a little too wimpy, helpless and victimized. When Diana was kidnapped by Ansgar, she too became a helpless victim. Yes, I've enjoyed other books with evil powerful people, but this didn't work as well for me. I'm having a hard time explaining why. Throughout the story I felt like "Oh, no, another bad thing is happening to them. Nothing good ever happens, even some of the local townspeople are causing difficulties for Diana in her job."

My favorite part was at the end, page 298. An enemy guard was threatening Llyr. Diana said "Lay one hand on His Majesty, and I'll rip the offending body part off and shove it up your a__." Llyr said to Diana "Would you like help with that?" Diana said "Yeah, actually. Hey, here's a thought. Let's kill `em all. I'll eat the evidence."

Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: twelve. Setting: 2005 small S. Carolina town, plus some back story from 401 AD in the fairy kingdom. Copyright: 2005. Genre: paranormal romance.

I enjoy paranormal stories placed in well constructed worlds. This one has a very interesting take on the source of the werewolf, fae and Arthurian legends I grew up with, tying them together in a new and novel way. I can usually tell how good a story is by how long it lasts. This lasted barely three days. That is very good! An even better indicator is when I try to figure out who is handy enough and tolerant enough to listen to a few choice (funny) lines read aloud. This had a fair number of such spots through the book.

The only real complaint I have with Angela Knight's book is probably due to my age. The language is a little bit raunchy in spots.

I liked king Llyr and his mother too. His mother's fretting over having grandpuppies if he marries Diana is a delight. I'm grateful we spent no more time on angst over Janieda and her dying for her king in the book Master of the Night than we did. There is quite enough drama and tears in real life. I read for escape and appreciate humor. Thank you Angela for a good story.
Master of the Moon is a follow on to Master of the Night this book covers the sidhe and the Direkind rather than the magkind. The principles are llyr the King of the Cachamwri sidhe, his evil brother Ansgar King of the Morvben Sidhe, and Diana a mild mannered city manager and Direkind (were wolf that takes a human wolf hybrid shape as well as others-created by Merlin to make sure that magkind doesn't get out of hand on Earth-mostly magic immune). They start by having erotic dreams about each other and then actually meet when they combine forces against one of the vampires created by Geirolf. Nicely done erotic with some BD (the scene in the bathing pool particularly well done), a nice counter plot as well. Some humor too "I was rased a nice southern werewolf" and "stop being a baby you big Faire" after Llyr finds out he really doesn't know how to use a stove. The ending is a little deus ex machina but after all Cachamwri is a god and has ben around throughout the plot.

Truly outstanding of its kind. it stands alone but I would highly recomend Master of the Night first. I'm looking forward to the follow on book in the series.
Angela Knight never writes what you expect. She writes better than you can expect. She has become one of my keeper authors. This is a very sensual exotic fantasy. The characters are wonderful full of fresh and witty dialogue.

Diane London is a Direwolf, a werewolf who is to protect the world if the Magi get corrupted. She is the city manager for a small South Carolina town. At 30 she has not found her mate and must suffer a burning moon, one month a year of intense feelings of need.

Llyr the King of the Fairies has promised to help the Magi catch the vampires who escaped when they dispursed around the world. Llyr's brother has been trying to kill him for 1600 years. He has killed 4 wives and 10 of Llyr's children over this time. Due to a spell Llyr can't kill his brother.

A vampire female attacks and kills a man in Diana's town and eventually Llyr sees her picture and realizes he has dreamed about her. So he comes to town to help her but this merely puts both of them is danger from his brother.

Not only is this a good story, the romance is hot and you are rooting for them by the end. When everyone is saying a king and a werewolf can never be togather.
